David Edmund Fay
David E. Fay, Sr. of Toms Brook passed away peacefully at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital in Woodstock VA on May 13 at the age of 93. A private service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date. David was born on March 14, 1933, in Brooklyn, New York to John and Ava Fay. With the permission of his parents, he enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17 during the Korean War and was discharged in 1953. After the war he attended Lamar University in Beaumont Texas and upon graduation attended West Virginia University Graduate School. It was at West Virginia University where he met the love of his life - Mary Susan (Smith) Fay. They were married in 1960 and were married for 59 years. She preceded him death in 2020. David retired from the Washington Post in 1990 after a distinguished career in the Financial Office. During retirement David became an avid woodworker and carpenter. David is survived by two children - Son David and wife Suprena of Pinnacle, NC and Daughter Susan (Sarver) and husband COL(R) Perry Sarver of Spotsylvania VA. He also leaves behind 6 grandchildren and 6 great- grandchildren. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Valley Health in Woodstock, the team members at Life Care Center of New Market and the Maynard in Strasburg Va. Also, thanks to Pastor Bobby Funkhouser and wife Debbie for their continued friendship.
