Glenna Roadcap Mccallister Hunter
Glenna Roadcap McCallister Hunter. A beautiful and cherished earthly life came to a close on Saturday, May 9, 2026. Glenna heard her Master's call, and she answered at the age of 85, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, who lovingly provided care for her for the past six years.
Glenna was born on May 1, 1941, in Rockingham County, Virginia, to the late Herman and April Raynes Roadcap. Her faith guided her every step, and she lived as a reflection of Christ's love through her devotion to her family and friends.
Glenna attended Montevideo High School. For 40 years, she was married to Daniel Lee McCallister, building a life centered on family. She was a dedicated housewife and stay-at-home mother until her youngest child started school, at which point she worked for 5 years for Bluebell Wrangler in Elkton. Upon the birth of her first grandchild, Glenna returned home to do what she loved most; care for her grandchild. After the passing of her first husband, she worked for the Salvation Army in Grottoes, where she met Robert Paul "Bob" Hunter. They shared 16 wonderful years of marriage, enjoying yard sales, antiquing, and traveling together.
A few short years later she permanently moved in with her daughter where she shared her life lessons to those around her, enjoyed trips to Kline's Dairy, spent hours listening to her favorite Gospel music, and found her greatest peace in the simple beauty of observing the day-to-day lives of her family.
A faithful servant of the Lord, Glenna was a devoted member of the Grottoes Church of God. She shared her spirit and knowledge by teaching Sunday School and holding various positions within the church. She was an avid reader who loved puzzles, summer canning, and collecting Halls Jewel T Autumn Leaf dishes, Denim Days figurines, and a variety of decorative hand bells.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Daniel Lee McCallister on September 18, 1996; her second husband, Robert Paul "Bob" Hunter on May 9, 2016; her parents; her sister, Carolyn Morris; and her brothers, Ronnie and Eugene Roadcap.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Jennifer Garrison (Gordon) Grottoes, Karen Sue Wright (Gary) Waynesboro, Melesa Duncan (Robert) Harrisonburg, Jeffrey McCallister, Front Royal, and David McCallister (Shelia) Waynesboro; her sister, Linda Roberson (Jimmy) Waynesboro; sister-in-law, Janet McCallister Raynes, New Carrollton, MD; Grandchildren, April Thornton (Harvey), Jessica Kilby (O. J.), Kascie Ellinger (Chad), AaMie Good (Michael), Hillary Ellis (Ryan), Matthew Kyger (Sarah), Tony Kirby, Jeffrey Hedrick, Josh Irvine (Ashley), Jacob McCallister (Jessica), and Jerrica Turner (Jeremy). She was a devoted grandmother to 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-granddaughters, and leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
