Harold Conway Wimer
Harold "Buddy" Conway Wimer, 95, of Ruckersville, VA passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026 at Sentara Martha Jefferson in Charlottesville, VA.
Born on March 6, 1931, in Blue Grass, VA, Harold was the son of the late Ernest Coe and Myrtle (Vandevender) Wimer.
Harold proudly served in the United States Army and Coast Guard. He retired as a crane operator with Y&B Crane.
In his free time he enjoyed spending time at the campground with family, watching NASCAR and his all time favorite, Redskins. When at home, you could find him in the garage doing woodwork and taking dinner trips to Woodgrill and sneaking chicken home to "Susie" and "Speedy," his four legged companions.
In addition to his parents, Harold is preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Wimer; son, Michael "Mickey" Wimer; siblings, Richard Wimer, Madeline Ryan, Wanda Keener, and William "Bill" Wimer; sister-in-law, Sally Wimer; son-in-law, Mark Hemp; and grandson, Travis Hemp.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Wimer; children, Theresa Hewitt (Marlin), Steven Wimer (Sharon), James Wimer (Debbie), Marcie (Wimer) Hemp, David "Petie" Wimer, and Diane Hall (Mike); 18 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 AM on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Grottoes. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Daniel Wine officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Blue Grass Cemetery at 2 PM.
Active pallbearers will be Christopher Huffman, Phillip Huffman, Colton Hemp, Matt Lewis, Jimmy Shifflett, and Tommy Ponton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Shyann Shifflett, Weston Wimer, and Stiles Taylor.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Johnson Funeral & Cremation Service in Grottoes.
