Bennie H. Howdyshell

STAUNTON – Bennie Hampton Howdyshell, 91, passed away Friday (April 24, 2026) at his residence.

Born October 23, 1934 in Frank’s Mill, he was a son of Ernest Mack and Iveta Odel Coffey Howdyshell. He was a 1953 graduate of North River High School. Prior to retirement he was employed by Westinghouse/McQuay for 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Bennie Hampton Howdyshell, Jr.; a sister, Marion Janell Howdyshell; and three brothers, Ernest “Buddy” Howdyshell, John Mark Howdyshell, and Douglas Weaver Howdyshell. Surviving are four children, Renee Wagner (husband Darryl) of Fredericksburg, Teresa Moree (husband Dwight) of Royal Palm Beach, Fla., Danny Howdyshell of Verona, and David Howdyshell of Staunton; former daughter-in-law Kathy Howdyshell of Florida; a sister, Ruth Ann Kaminski (husband Joe) of New Hope; three brothers, Kermit Howdyshell (wife Clara), George Howdyshell, and Roger Howdyshell (wife Margie), all of Staunton; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 27 in Schutterle Community Cemetery (Luck Stone Road, Staunton), officiated by the Rev. Lester Kennedy.
