Jennifer Marie Huffman Rousseau, 49, a devoted mother, loving daughter, and cherished friend, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Augusta Health in Fishersville, Virginia.Jennifer was born on December 19, 1976, in Staunton, to Jean Stover and Gary Huffman.Jennifer graduated from Wilson Memorial High School in 1995 and went on to attend Marshall University. She was known as a free spirit who embraced life’s adventures. She loved road trips, especially to the Outer Banks and Raven's Roost, treasured late-night walks on her own, and enjoyed wandering the streets of New York City without hesitation. Jennifer’s passion for music and animals shone brightly in her everyday life. She cared deeply for her cows, goats, dogs, and cats, bringing joy and comfort to their lives as well as her own.Her career reflected her compassionate nature. She was a stay-at-home mom who dedicated much of her time to volunteering in activities with her children. Jennifer also worked as a Special Education Assistant with Augusta County Schools and later worked at McKee Foods. Those who knew her say she always saw the good in others and put others first, making a lasting impact on everyone she met.Jennifer is survived by her children: Joe Rousseau, Jacob Rousseau, and Jessica Rousseau; the father of her children, Brian Rousseau; her mother, Jean Stover and her husband, Joe; her father, Gary Huffman and his wife, Brooke; her siblings, Doug Huffman and his significant other, Rhea, and Mindy Turner; her fiancé, Shawne Simmons, and his children, Lawrence, Laila, and Landon; her special aunt, Laura Johnson; as well as her aunts, Jan Sprouse and Joy Surratt; and numerous cousins.A visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Marquis Memorial United Methodist Church in Staunton. A memorial service will take place at the same location at 3:00 PM with Reverend Elizabeth "Tizzy" von Trapp Walker officiating.Memorial contributions may be made to Ocean Conservancy (1300 19th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20036).
