Nancy J. Hedrick
CHURCHVILLE – Nancy Jean (Argenbright) Hedrick, 77, passed away on Sunday (March 22, 2026) at her home, with her loving husband by her side.
Nancy was born on October 21, 1948 in West Augusta, and was a daughter of the late Louie Paul Argenbright and Nellie Pearl (Eavers) Argenbright. She attended Buffalo Gap High School. On May 23, 1972 she married Virgil Hedrick.
She loved the outdoors, especially her flowers. She enjoyed decorating for the holidays. She loved going to truck pulls to cheer on William. She loved to dance, and “flat foot” was her favorite. She loved being “Nana” to all, and was also known by many as “Hankey Mountain Momma.” She loved spending time with family and friends, and enjoyed giving treats to Marley, Remi and Kimber every chance she got.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Everette and James Argenbright, and sisters Frances Flesher and Patsy Losh.
Surviving are her husband of 53 years, as well as children Vicki Woolridge (William) of Churchville and Virgil Hedrick Jr. (Crystal) of Shelocta, Pa.; brother Darrell Argenbright Sr.; grandchildren Kayla Woolridge, Hannah Woolridge (Collin), Treavor Hedrick (Kailey), Colton Hedrick (Tiffany) and Megan Fitzgerald (David); great-grandchildren Koah Hedrick, Graylynn Hedrick, Henley Hedrick, a great-grandson on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 28 in the chapel of Bear Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor George Lambert Sr. Burial will follow in West Augusta Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be William Woolridge, Kevin Hodge, Luke Mandichak, Cameron Frost, Collin Mitchell, Darrell Vess, Treavor Hedrick, Colton Hedrick and Travis Kay. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren and truck pulling friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit at the home of Vicki and William Woolridge, 2993 Hankey Mountain Hwy., Churchville.
Memorials may be directed to H.E.L.P. or to UVA Cancer Center Augusta.
The family is grateful for the compassionate care given by the staff of UVA oncology and ACG Hospice, and wonderful hospice nurse Sarah McCarty.
