Jerry Leroy Brinkley
Jerry Leroy Brinkley, 86, passed away on March 6, 2026, at Sentara RMH Medical Center.
He was born May 25, 1939, in Bath County, Virginia, to the late Kenna and Hattie Brinkley.
Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1959 to 1963 and was stationed in Puerto Rico during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Gazzola Brinkley; his brother, John Brinkley; a sister-in-law, Stella, mother-in-law, Elsie Gazzola and father-in-law James Roadcap, Jr.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Laurie Roadcap Brinkley; his sons, Kenneth Brinkley (Angie) and Jeremiah Brinkley (Chelsea); and his daughters, Kim (Carl) Brooks and Becky Brinkley. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jerrica (Alain), Joseph (Kathryn), Kristen (Brett), Gage, Lindsay, and Jaxx, along with another granddaughter arriving May 2026.
He is also survived by six nieces, three nephews, his mother-in-law, Mary Roadcap, five brothers-in-law, four sisters-in-law, and eight great grandchildren. He leaves behind the extended and special Neff family.
Known for his strong work ethic, he held many roles throughout his life including Shickel’s Machine shop for 13 years and in the construction industry, retiring from Tim Lacey Builders in 2003.
Jerry had a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors and enjoyed spending his free time hunting and fishing. His love of Bluegrass music usually brought about flat foot dancing and song to any gathering.
Funeral services will be held on March 10, 2026, at Spring Creek Church of the Nazarene, 8863 Nazarene Church Rd, Bridgewater, Virginia. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, with the funeral service immediately following.
A second service will be held on March 11, 2026, at Woodland Union Church, 347 McClung Drive, Millboro, Virginia 24460. Visitation will be held at the church from 11:00 am to 11:30 am, with the service immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Clover Hill Rescue Squad, 2100 Clover Hill Rd, Dayton, VA 22821.
