Jim Estep
Jim Estep, 93, of Verona, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at the Shendoah Hospice House. He was born in Washington County, VA, on January 17, 1933, a son of the late Edward and Ada Mae (Wolford) Estep.
Jim proudly served in the United States Army. He worked as a long haul truck driver for 47 years until his retirement. Jim attended Middlebrook Church of God. In his spare time, he greatly enjoyed hunting, traveling, eating a good meal and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Sean Weeks and four siblings.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Estep of Verona; son, Glenn E. Estep (Jacqueline Duff) of Staunton; step- daughters: Bridgett Allen of Waynesboro, Jeannette Harper of Stuarts Draft; Cheryl Cooper (Glenn) of Vero Beach, FL; two siblings, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great-grancdhilren; extended family and friends.
He is also survived by his four legged best friend, Bitsy.
A memorial service with military honors will be conducted at 1pm on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Strickler officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jim’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
