Ray Douglas Leitch

Ray Douglas Leitch, 72, husband of Anita (Wilkerson) Leitch, of Staunton, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at Augusta Health in Fishersville. 
Mr. Leitch was born in Augusta County, Virginia on June 8, 1954, a son of the late Ralph Leon Leitch, Sr. and Bertie Mae (Drumheller) Burns. 
Ray retired from VDOT as a dedicated mechanic and later continued his career with Guy C. Eavers. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was widely known as a true “jack of all trades,” always willing to lend his skills wherever they were needed.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Leitch was preceded in death by his step-mother, Ada V. “Ginger” Leitch; and a brother, Ralph Leon Leitch, Jr. and his wife, Vickie. 
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 50 years, is a daughter, Megan R. Shaffer and her husband, Matthew of Stuarts Draft; a son, Blake D. Leitch of Staunton; a grandson, Aiden Shaffer; and a sister, Angela K. Bratton and her husband, David. 
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Reverend William “Bill” Trice.
The family will receive friends following the service. 
It is suggested that those desiring make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-1942 or Staunton-Augusta Regional SPCA, P.O. Box 2014, Staunton, Virginia 24402.
