Lawrence Harlon McDonaldson

Lawrence Harlon McDonaldson, Sr., 78, of Grottoes, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Sentara RMH Medical Center.

He was born on April 5, 1947, and was a son of the late Ralph Grayson and Myrtle Grace (Morris) McDonaldson.

Before retiring, Lawrence had worked as a General Supervisor for Walker Manufacturing. Lawrence served in the United States Army in Vietnam and later served as Commander of Post 9292 in Elkton. Anyone who worked with or for Lawrence always spoke very highly of him.

Lawrence was united in marriage to Susan Ann McDonaldson, who preceded him in death on November 1, 2018.

Lawrence is survived by two children, Larry McDonaldson, Jr. and companion, Tari Richards, and Holly McDonaldson and companion, Shea Mullenax; six grandchildren, Katlyn Stokes and husband, Phillip, Dylan McDonaldson, Christin Hensley, Jessica McDonaldson, Lauren Hensley, and Emmy McDonaldson; and a great-grandchild, Hayes McClellan.

In addition to his spouse and parents, Lawrence was preceded in death by a daughter, Wendy McDonaldson.

A service celebrating Lawrence's life will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Johnson Funeral & Cremation Service in Grottoes.
