Carl Hansford Nuckoles

June 10, 1940 - February 5, 2026

Carl Hansford Nuckoles, 85, husband of Janet Lucille (Bates) Nuckoles, of Stuarts Draft, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at his residence. 
Mr. Nuckoles was born in Augusta County, Virginia on June 10, 1940, a son of the late Mae Ella (Campbell) and Raymond Ransford Nuckoles, Sr. 
Carl retired from Carrier Corporation after many years of dedicated service as a warehouse manager. He was a faithful member of Mint Spring United Methodist Church, where he found great joy in serving others, especially through his involvement with the church’s food pantry. In his free time, Carl loved being outdoors and could often be found hunting, fishing, or tending to his garden. He was also a devoted Atlanta Braves fan and enjoyed cheering on his favorite team.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Nuckoles was preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas Nuckoles, Raymond Nuckoles, Jr., and Charles Nuckoles; and a sister, Dorothy Dotson.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 27 years, are two sons, Jeffrey Scott Nuckoles of Ocoee, FL and James Edward Nuckoles and his wife, Katrina of Sorrento, FL; three daughters, Shelia Marie Rexrode and her husband, Randy of Mt. Sidney, Cynthia Lynn Sterling and her husband, Mark of Grottoes, and Christina Puzio and her husband, Alan of Santa Rose Beach, FL; a brother, Russell Lee Nuckoles of Staunton; two sisters, Hazel Rexrode of Lynchburg and Phyllis Western of Staunton; twelve grandchildren, Jenna Morgan, Nathan Rexrode, Matt Rexrode, Morgan Sterling, Breann Nuckoles, Brittney Nuckoles, Jacob Nuckoles, Mason Nuckoles, Peyton Puzio, Noah Puzio, Alan Queen, and Jesse Lee Smith; twelve great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2026 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Spencer Black.
Burial will be private in Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery by Chaplain Stephen Henderson.
Active pallbearers will be Mason Nuckoles, Jason Jones, Timmy Nuckoles, Nate Rexrode, Matt Rexrode, Billy Bell, Mark Sterling, Randy Rexrode, Peyton Puzio, and Noah Puzio.
Honorary pallbearers will be Carroll Swecker, Raymond Desper, Bobby Glenn, Kevin Jarvis, Phil Spalding, and Ernie Hartless. 
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
