Arlene W. McManaway

February 9, 1925 - January 28, 2026

CHURCHVILLE – Arlene Wimer McManaway, age 100, went to be with the Lord on January 28, 2026.

Born February 9, 1925 in Pocahontas County, W.Va., she was a daughter of John Richard Wimer and Arzola (Lambert) Wimer. Her family moved to Highland County when she was a small child, and then to Augusta County where she spent most of her life. She was a 1945 graduate of Churchville High School and a member of Elk Run Church of the Brethren. Throughout her life, God was her first love, and her relationship with Him was of utmost importance. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend, and was a dedicated caregiver to many family members and friends.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Benton McManaway; sons Walter Richard McManaway, Sr. and Paul Benton McManaway; sisters, Katie Kirtley and Myrtle Fauls; and brothers, Glandie, Gerlin, V. J. and Luther Wimer.

Surviving are three sisters, Betty Guffey of Staunton, Okie Campbell of Mt. Crawford, and Brenda Hamilton of Swoope; a brother, Curtis Wimer of Churchville; grandchildren., Eric McManaway, Will McManaway, Brandon McManaway, Trevor McManaway, Ronda Bottenfield, Rick McManaway Jr., Keeley Bedford, Noel McManaway; great-grandchildren Skyler Webb, Corey McManaway, Devon McManaway, Danielle Napier, James Coiner, Arkadia Bottenfield, Jordan McManaway, Tyler McManaway, Aiden McManaway, Daniel McManaway; great-great-grandchildren Owen Webb, Rowen, Renley and Romy McManaway, Bentley Napier, Bryce Napier and Beckett McManaway; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 31 in Elk Run Church of the Brethren, officiated by Pastor Jonathan Farmer. Burial will take place in Green Hill Cemetery at a later date.

The family will receive friends, prior to the service, beginning at 1:30.
