Andrea Oxsen

August 22, 1941 - January 17, 2026

Andrea Harriman Oxsen, 84, of Strasburg, VA, passed peacefully on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Blue Ridge Care Center in Winchester, VA.

Andrea was a daughter of the late Page Stafford and Mildred Holsinger Crabill of Strasburg, VA.  After graduating from Strasburg High School in 1959, she attended Davis and Elkins College in West Virginia, to study music and teaching.  There she met her husband Robert Barbour Harriman, with whom she had three boys: twins David Scott and Douglas Scott Harriman, and Robert Barbour Harriman, Jr.  Her family traveled extensively during her husband’s 20-year Navy career and decided to settle down in Lebanon Church and live in one place after LCDR Robert B. Harriman’s retirement in 1980.

Andrea was much admired throughout her life as a gifted pianist and entertained family and boarders at the Crabill’s house on Orchard Street as a child, then at the Strasburg Presbyterian Church as a teen, and gave lessons to both children and adults upon returning to Strasburg.  A devout Christian, Andrea began a Bible study called “Women in the Word” that grew from a small home group to large study with over 250 women attending it each week at Fellowship Bible Church. She was the study’s leader for over 32 years. She also assisted in the growth of the congregation as a wedding coordinator.

Her husband Robert died of multiple myeloma in 2008, and Andrea was blessed to meet widower Franklin John Oxsen in 2012 at a function at Fellowship Bible Church.  Married in 2013, they shared 12 wonderful years filled with adventures, travels, laughter and family.  Their shared faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of their love for one another. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother Paul Crabill and her son, Douglas S. Harriman.

She is survived by her sons, David Scott Harriman, (Dorothy), Robert Harriman, Jr. (Carrie) and Faith Harriman Caperton (Chris); her eight grandchildren Dustin Harriman, Heather Harriman Moreland, Robert Barbour Harriman III, Hallie Harriman, Rachel Harriman Whitley, Gavin Harriman, Connell Harriman, and Nilah Harriman; her six great-grandchildren Tyler Harriman, Taylor Harriman, Braxton Harriman, Tinsley Harriman, Landon Moreland, and Milo Meike-Harriman.

Andrea’s Christian faith, love of family, and leadership concern for women of faith, were often combined with her talents of music and good humor making everyone feel welcomed.  The family is blessed with the knowledge that she is with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ where there is no more pain and only rejoicing at her homecoming.

Visitation will be held at Stover Funeral Home on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 6-8 p.m.  A celebration of life will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Fellowship Bible Church, with Pastor Mark Carey presiding.  Interment will follow at Lebanon Church Cemetery.

Donations may be made to Samaritans Purse in lieu of flowers if desired.

Stover Funeral Home and Crematory is honored to serve the family of Andrea Harriman Oxsen.
