Lenny Rankin

VERONA – William Lynwood “Lenny” Rankin, Jr., 69, passed away Thursday (December 18, 2025).

Born August 11, 1956 in Staunton, he was a son of Patsy (Guyer) Halterman and the late William L. Rankin, Sr.

Lenny was employed by Burris Logistics for many years, and then worked as a custodian at Stuarts Draft Elementary School prior to retirement. He was an avid fan of NASCAR and the Washington Redskins.

He was preceded in death by his father and by his wife, Peggy Lynn (Hendrickson) Rankin. Surviving are his mother, Patsy Halterman of Staunton, two daughters, Heather Killen (husband Michael) and Nikki Haun (husband Cody); brothers Dale Rankin (wife Lisa) and Douglas Rankin; sister Lisa Hizer-Boyd (husband Andy Boyd); grandchildren Logan and Meara Killen and Cody Haun Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 21 in the chapel of Bear Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Steve Cline. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dale, Douglas and Josh Rankin, Junior Strickler, and Derek and Dakota Hizer.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Sunday, beginning at 1 p.m.
