Joseph "Denny" Dennison Snyder
Joseph Dennison (Denny) Snyder, 73 of West Augusta, Virginia crossed into heaven on December 11th, 2025. Denny was born June 24, 1952, in Harrisonburg, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rebecca D. Snyder, Father, Carlin Snyder, and Denny's only brother, Ronnie.
He was a member of TAHS class of 1970, where he played football and baseball. He attended BRCC until 1973.
Denny spent most of his life working in the insurance industry.
He is survived by the love of his life, Teresa (Terrie) Myers Snyder. He is also survived by his daughters, Tara Snyder, former son-in-law (Keith Barrett), and Krista Snyder Hailey (Junior). 8 grandchildren, Taryn Barrett (Michael Myers), Makiah Johnson Bannan (Gerald), Taylor Barrett (Brianna), Jay Johnson, Jakai Johnson, Kaleb Blackwell, Ayden Hailey, and Alexa Hailey. 5 great grandchildren, Charlee Ann Bannan, Kristian Bannan, Jaxson Bannan, Emery Myers, and Lenora Barrett. Sister-in-laws, Debra Snyder and Glenna Hale (Bill). He left behind numerous nieces and nephews and other family members.
Denny is survived by his best friend, his brother from another mother, Dennis Huffer of Harrisonburg, and hunting buddy, Butch Wells of Staunton, Virginia.
Denny coached baseball for many years in Waynesboro and Augusta County. He also coached at FDHS for a number of years. Denny loved the outdoors and spent 60 years in pursuit of whitetail deer. He loved his many dogs and working with his bird dogs over the years. He was a competitive skeet shooter and was a lifetime member of Shenandale Gun Club. He was also an avid UVA football and baseball fan and enjoyed tailgating with friends over the years.
Denny loved his family and watching it grow. He cherished all the family gatherings and following family sports.
He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Mount Sidney, Virginia.
A celebration of life will be conducted at Salem Lutheran Church on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at 11:00 AM by Pastor Derek Boggs. Following the service family will visit with friends in the Imagine Center of the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Lutheran World Relief.
In honor of Denny, the family has asked that you wear dark blue to the service.
