Malcolm Selvey Furrow
Malcolm Selvey Furrow, 89, of Grottoes, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025 at his home.
He was born in Gary, WV on March 4, 1936, and was a son of the late Jesse L. and Estella (Wiggins) Furrow.
Malcolm retired from Rockingham Memorial Hospital after a dedicated career in healthcare. A graduate of Morris Harvey College in Charleston, WV, he previously served as the chief X-ray technician at Appalachian Regional Hospital in Beckley, WV, and was a successful entrepreneur, owning several small businesses. He also worked as a professor at Beckley College and later as a substitute teacher in Raleigh County, WV Schools. He continued working after retirement where he operated several delivery and security businesses. Malcolm shared his faith through a singing ministry, sharing with many churches and nursing home residents with his music.
Malcolm was married to the love of his life, Dorothy "Dottie" (Bean) Furrow, who survives.
Malcolm is also survived by six children, Debi (Richard) Reynolds-Rothausen, Billy (Kecia) Furrow, Del (Mary) McCormick, Chandler (Marsha) McCormick, Cindy (Glenn) Shifflett, and Tina (George) Craig; brothers, Clifton (Shirley) Furrow, and Paul Furrow; sister, Velma (Bobby) Gilliam; eleven grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ruth (Crisp) Furrow; a son, Mac Furrow; son-in-law, Richard Reynolds; one great-granddaughter; one great-great-grandson; sister, Agnes Huff, Ruth Atkinson, Dorothy Sparks, Margie Hawks, and Gertrude Furrow; brothers, Jesse, William, Ray, and Larry Furrow.
A memorial service celebrating Malcolm's life will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Grottoes, with Rev. Paul Furrow officiating. The family will receive friends one-hour prior to the service.
Due to Malcom's love for children, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
