Jerry L. Sprouse

CHURCHVILLE – Jerry Lee Sprouse, 73, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

Born October 1, 1952 in Staunton, Jerry was a son of the late John Hunley and Margaret Ardelia (Ellinger) Sprouse.

Jerry retired from Staunton City Schools. He was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed drag-racing, hunting and boating. He was a good mechanic and could often be found working in his garage. His faithful little dogs were among his most prized possessions.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lilly Lumsden; and four brothers, Richard, Larry, Leonard and Ocie Sprouse. Surviving are his companion, Pat Clatterbaugh; daughter Tammy Toler and husband Randy of Churchville; step daughter Mandy Bishop and husband Tony of Pennsylvania; sister Beulah Bryant of Goshen; grandson Haden Toler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday (November 21) in Green Hill Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Lester Kennedy. Pallbearers will be David Lumsden, Warren Harper, Haden Toler, Morgan Surratt, Hunter Showalter and Dalton Ashley.
