Arturo Richardson
Arturo Jorge Richardson passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025 He was born on April 16, 1935, to the late Arthur Richardson and Catalina Rosa (Mackey) Richardson. He spent his youth in Rosario, Argentina and summers in the countryside with his three brothers and two sisters.
Jorge earned a BS in Biochemistry from the Universidad Nacional del Litoral while in Argentina. Through friends he met Maria with whom he had a long courtship, and they married in August of 1959. Soon after, they came to the US where he attended Northwestern University, earning his doctorate in Chemistry. As they started their life in the US, their family grew to include three children, Rosie, Vycki and Marc. to whom he was an adored father.
Jorge started his career as a research chemist at DuPont’s Benger Lab, developing novel synthetic textile technologies and spent the majority of his career as a process chemist at the Waynesboro DuPont plant. Prior to retirement, he spent several years travelling overseas as a textile technology transfer consultant, helping to establish new textile factories in multiple countries.
Jorge was an active member of Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He loved the great outdoors where he enjoyed camping, road biking, tennis, and became a passionate skier, skiing well into his 80’s. He enjoyed traveling and exploring the world with his wife, relaxing at the beach, and sleeping through concerts and plays, but especially loved visiting and playing with his four grandchildren and watching them grow up.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025 at 11am at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Waynesboro, VA.
