William "Russ" Russell Jordan
William "Russ" Russell Jordan, 96, of Bridgewater, formerly of Staunton, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at Bridgewater Retirement Community where he had been a resident for the last four years.
Russ was born in Staunton on May 30, 1929, and was a son of the late Emory Clarence and Virginia Mae (Carey) Jordan.
Mr. Jordan attended Staunton Public Schools and graduated from Staunton Military Academy in 1948. He served in the US Army for a number of years before joining the National Guard. He attended Bridgewater College and later transfered to Madison College (JMU) where he received a B.S. degree in business administration in 1956. He retired after 30 years as a state probation & parole officer for the Commonwealth of Virginia. He was a lifetime member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Staunton, VA.
Russ is survived by his wife of 75 years, Virginia Helen (Smith) Jordan, two sons, Stephen Douglas Jordan (Dr. Nancy Wise Jordan) of Ft. Defiance, and Mark Bradley Jordan of Bridgewater, and adopted daughter, Frances Rodgers Evans of Virginia Beach.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Lou Jordan Dunton.
Friends and family may visit Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Bridgewater anytime between 10 AM and 5 PM on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2025, to sign the guest register and pay their respects.
A graveside service & burial will be conducted at 1 PM on Friday, Nov. 14th, at Mossy Creek Cemetery in Mt. Solon, with Pastor Dan Bassett and Rev. Charles Cole, Jr. officiating.
