Nathaniel Harriam Forbes

Nathaniel Harriam Forbes, lifelong resident of Stuarts Draft, VA, died Friday, October 31, 2025 at Shenandoah Nursing Home.

He was born on September 15, 1924, the youngest son of the late John William Forbes, Sr. and Cornelia May Welch Forbes in Bedford County, Virginia.

Nathaniel had been a teacher in Augusta County Schools and at Waynesboro High School. He was a member of St. Michael's United Church of Christ, formerly German Reform Church.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Olive Hope Wise Forbes, on January 15, 2003. He was also preceded in death by nine of his brothers and sisters and a number of nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Friends may visit the family at any time.

A Graveside service will be held at St. Michael's United Church of Christ, Bridgewater on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at 3:00 pm. Following the service in the cemetery, the family will receive friends in the social hall of the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint Michael's United Church of Christ Building Fund, PO Box 101, Bridgewater, VA 22812 or a charity of your choice.
