Robert Johnson
Robert Edward Lee Johnson, Sr., 80, of Stuarts Draft, Virginia, entered eternal rest on Sunday, October 26, 2025. He was born on May 30, 1945, in Augusta County, Virginia, to the late Paul William Johnson, Sr. and Nannie Parish Johnson.
Robert was a proud graduate of Central Augusta High School, an historic African American high school in Augusta County. He later retired from Hershey Chocolate of Virginia, where he dedicated many years of faithful service. A devoted member of Christ Tabernacle Church of God in Christ in Waynesboro, Robert’s life was a testament to faith, kindness, and community.
He found joy in life’s simple pleasures — bowling, playing horseshoes, and especially riding his tractor. Whether tending a garden or field, clearing snow for neighbors, or helping those in need, Robert was known for his generous spirit and his willingness to lend a hand to anyone. His gentle smile and unwavering compassion left a lasting imprint on all who knew him.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Paul Johnson, Jr.; his sister, Elizabeth Johnson; and his beloved companion, Carolyn Lee Barber.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving children: Robert Edward Lee Johnson, Jr. (Marla), Kimberly Elaine Lupino (August II), and Leon Scott Johnson (Tanya); his cherished grandchildren: Karla Johnson Church (Frank), Leon Scott Johnson Jr., Jasmine Noel Johnson, Delonte Kahlil Johnson, and Isabella Marie Lupino; and bonus grandchildren: Nicki Hartman, Patrick Wilkins, Toni Jennings, and Ryan Jennings, Jr. He is also lovingly remembered by his great-grandchildren, Joseph Anthony Church II, and Rhyan Elaine Church; his siblings, Jane Harper, Judy Vest (Harry Lee), Hebur Johnson, and Francis Johnson; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, neighbors, and church family who will miss him dearly.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 4:00 PM ET at Christ Tabernacle Church of God in Christ in Waynesboro, Virginia. A private burial for immediate family will precede the memorial service at Bible Truth Cemetery in Stuarts Draft, Virginia. A repast will be held immediately following the memorial service, where family and friends are invited to share their reflections, stories, and memories in celebration of Robert’s life and the many hearts he touched.

Robert’s life was one of quiet strength, steadfast love, and enduring faith. Though he has gone to his heavenly home, his spirit will live on through the countless lives he touched with his warmth, humor, and kindness. His kindness was his legacy; his love, our everlasting gift.
