Roger Roberson
Roger Dale Roberson, 75, of Waynesboro, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at the Shenandoah Hospice House. He was born in Waynesboro on March 7, 1950, a son of the late Helen C. Roberson.
Roger was drafted in 1970 to serve in the United States Army. He worked as a supervisor with Industrial Fabricators of Virginia until his retirement in 2015. Roger was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Beside spending time with his family, watching dirt racing and cheering on his son, Greg “Rocketman” Roberson and his grandson, Logan ”Thugg Nasty” Roberson was his favorite hobby. He will be remembered for being a simple and hard working man.
In addition to his mother, Roger was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 50 years of marriage, Marilyn Gail (Fitzgerald) Roberson, who he married on May 6, 1970. He also was preceded in death by his very special mother-in-law, Maggie M. Fitzgerald and his siblings: Donnie Roberson, Judy C. Hull, and Debbie Curry.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Misti Roberson-Goolsby and husband, Tracy, Greg Roberson and wife, Wendy, and Ashley Lucas and husband, Brandon; grandchildren: Josh Roberson and wife, Kayla, Jonathan Engleman and wife, Kasey, Logan Roberson and girlfriend, Britney, Riley Goolsby, and Owen Lucas; great grandchildren, Pierce Roberson, Presley and Rynlee Engleman; brother, Jimmy Roberson and wife, Linda K.; brothers-in-law, Wayne Hull and Howard Curry; sister-in-law, Linda F. Roberson; special friends, Scott and Teresa Childress and Robert Maybush; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 12pm on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Wells officiating. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be Josh Roberson, Jonathan Engleman, Logan Roberson, Brandon Lucas, Tracy Goolsby, Robert Maybush, and Pierce Roberson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Owen Lucas and the family and friends of the Roberson Racing Team.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
