Jeffrey Fink
DEERFIELD – Jeffrey Fink, 67, “the Great Bear Hunter,” passed away Saturday (October 25, 2025) in the University of Virginia Hospital.
Jeff was born in Staunton on July 3, 1958 to the late Ralph Nolan Fink Sr. and Lillian (Byrd) Fink.
He was a cattle farmer and a retiree of the Virginia Department of Transportation.
Jeff’s love of bear hunting began in early childhood as he hunted alongside his dad, and it proved to be a life-long joy. Tough as nails, he feared nothing, and lived for the hunt. Jeff also was an avid fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ralph N. Fink, Jr.; and cousin Rusty Fink.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Connie Fink; two step children, Carmen Campbell (husband Justin) and Brandon Avey (wife Kayla); three grandchildren, Tyler Griffin, Benny Avey and Ernest Avey; his father- and mother-in-law, Benny and Pat Armstrong; his sisters, Martha Fink, Patsy Malcolm (Rodney Elkins), and Amanda Burke (husband Tommy); sister-in-law Nina Armstrong (husband “Tub”); nephew Dexter Malcolm; niece Kelly Bright; special cousin Joan Fink; countless dear friends and extended family; and his beloved dog, Maddie.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 1 in the chapel of Bear Funeral Home. The family will receive friends before the service, beginning at 11:30 a.m.
