Lenora Mathes
Lenora Elizabeth (Hall) Mathes, 81, of Waynesboro passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at University of Virginia Medical Center. She was born in Upperglade, West Virginia on April 25, 1944 a daughter to the late Henry Alpha Hall and Myrtle Lilly Hall.
Lenora operated her own in home daycare. She attended Valley Covenant Church. Her hobbies included crossword puzzles, sewing, and crocheting.
In addition to her parents, Lenora was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Burton Mathes and eight siblings.
Survivors include her children, Joan Loving and Jane Hall; siblings: Jennings Hall, Wilma Green and husband, Pastor Eddie Green, Sue Cogar and husband, Roger, Doy Hall, Denver Hall and wife, Debbie; grandchildren: Brandon Mathes, Brittany Pullin, Shavonne Wardwell, Brenda Dempsey, and Brian Hall; great grandchildren: Liam Mathes, Lillian Mathes, Levi Pullin, Wyatt Pullin, Gabe Pullin, Ramona Wardwell, and Vivian Wardwell; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, September 22, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home with Pastor Eddie Green officiating. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park.
Active Pallbearers will be Brandon Mathes, Andrew Pullin, Brian Hall, Liam Mathes, and Robert Voorhees.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Levi Pullin, Lillian Mathes, Ramona Wardwell, Vivian Wardwell, Wyatt Pullin, and Gabe Pullin.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
