February 4, 1933 - September 2, 2025

FORT DEFIANCE – Katherine Lorain (Eye) Moyers, 92, passed away Tuesday (September 2, 2025) at her home.

Loraine was born on February 4, 1933 in Mount Clinton and was a daughter of the late Gordon Crawford Eye and Josephine Virginia (Heatwole) Eye.

She graduated from Mount Clinton High School and on June 20, 1954 married Gene Edwin Moyers. Gene preceded her in death on February 4, 2010.

Lorain was employed by Kroger as a cashier and bookkeeper for over 30 years. She was a long-time member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and, in more recent years, attended Mount Sidney United Methodist Church. She and Gene loved to travel. Some of their most memorable excursions included retracing Gene’s World War II path through Europe, an RV trip to Alaska, and numerous winters in their Florida home where they developed a dear community of friends.

Lorain also enjoyed collecting antiques and restoring antique furniture. She was also a remarkable cook and baker, and enthusiastically prepared many wonderful recipes from her Mennonite heritage.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Isabell Eye. Lorain is survived by her son Christopher Moyers (wife Karen); two grandchildren, Seth Shearson Moyers (wife Katie Purcell Moyers) and Karman Lauren Moyers Boisett; and a great-granddaughter, Willow Boissett.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, September 8 in Green Hill Cemetery, Churchville, officiated by Rev. Elizabeth A. Pyles. Active pallbearers will be Rick Pillow, Seth Moyers, Grant Eye, Greg Eye, Curt Rosen, and Jay Glover.

The family extends heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Shenandoah Nursing and Rehab, Amedisys Home Health Care, and Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
