Mildred Funkhouser
Mildred (Millie) Ruth Funkhouser, 83, passed away on Thursday, August 7,2025 to be with the lord, her mother, father and siblings that have gone on before her.
Mrs. Funkhouser was born September 22, 1941, a daughter of the late Johnny and Elizabeth Katherine Polk Lam. Mildred was a loving mother. She worked as a seamstress for Aileen sewing manufacturer, Perry Judds (the press), and Fisher diagnostics. She enjoyed camping, riding bikes, dancing, and doing art. Her favorite hobby was being with Alvin and around her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Sammy Polk, Ray Polk, Elwood Polk; her sisters Janet Sturgeon, Marie Kline and brothers-in-law Maynard (Chuck) Cline, and George Sites.
Survivors include her loving husband Alvin Jacob Funkhouser; her sons Barry Franklin Funkhouser (girlfriend Kathy Miller), Adam Jacob Funkhouser (Shannon); her daughter Mitzi Diane Givens (Charles “Chuck”); her sister Dorothy Sites; her brother Richard Lam along with multiple grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of life for Mrs. Funkhouser will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the Round Hill Church of the Brethren, 28138 Old Valley Pike, Toms Brook, VA 22660.
