Alice Marie Hoover

Alice Marie Hoover, 94, of Grottoes, Virginia passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at Shenandoah Rehab and Nursing Home.

She was born on April 14, 1931 and was a daughter of the late Noah J Morris and Loney (Raines) Morris.

Alice was a member of the Grottoes Church of God.

Alice is survived by her children, James Hammer, Lona (Randall) Wimer, Lavonne (Jim) Rusmisel, Janice (Ron) Cook; step-children, Judy Hoover Kivett, Dennis Hoover, and Cathy Hoover Miller; a brother, Walter (Patricia) Morris; a sister, Margaret Riley; she was blessed with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her first husband, Bernard J. Hammer; her second husband, Merlyn Hoover; a son, Richard Morris; step-children, Belinda Hoover Shultz and Merlyn "Red" Hoover, Jr.; brothers, Noah "Doc" Morris, Jr., Pete Morris, Paul Morris, Eugene "Shorty" Morris; sisters, Irene Gibson and Catherine Claytor.

The family will receive friends from 11-12 on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at Grottoes Church of God with services to follow with Pastor Glenn Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park and Mausoleum.
