Olive Perdue Eavey
Olive Perdue Eavey, 90, of Staunton and widow of Gerald Edward Eavey, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mrs. Eavey was born in Roanoke, Virginia on November 5, 1934, a daughter of the late Joseph W. and Alice (Townsend) Perdue.
She was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church in Chesapeake and enjoyed playing melodies on the piano that comforted and inspired those around her and blending her voice with others as she sang in the choir. A devoted lover of the arts, Olive found joy and expression through painting and drawing, capturing the beauty she saw in the world, with grace and detail.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, John Edward Eavey; brothers, Harold and Donald Perdue; and sisters, Elsie Minnich, Agnes Woolwine, and Marie Owen.
She is survived by a son, Kenneth Eavey and his wife, Katherine of Waynesboro; daughter-in-law, Suzanne Eavey of Chesapeake; grandchildren, Megan Neeley and her husband, Phillip, Zachary Eavey and his wife, Emily, Brian Eavey and his wife, Alison, and Jared Eavey and his wife, Hannah and six great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 21, 2025 at Deep Creek Baptist Church, 250 Mill Creek Parkway, Chesapeake, Virginia 23323.
She will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk at a later date.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
