Madeline Marie (Clatterbaugh) Wonderley

August 26, 1934 - May 2, 2025

Madeline Marie (Clatterbaugh) Wonderley, 90, widow of William Jefferson Wonderley, of Crimora, went home to Jesus on Friday, May 2, 2025 at her residence. 
Mrs. Wonderley was born in Staunton, Virginia on August 26, 1934, a daughter of the late Walter Glenn Clatterbaugh, Sr. and Anna Mae (Smith) Clatterbaugh. 
Madeline was a long time member of Mount Horeb Presbyterian Church and most recently a member of Central Baptist Church. Madeline was born and raised in Staunton and met her soul mate, Bill at an Augusta Military Academy Social. When Bill returned from serving in the Air Force in Guam, they lived in Washington DC until he completed his service at the Pentagon. They returned to the valley and settled on a farm near New Hope and raised five sons. Madeline enjoyed the outdoors, nature and pets, especially her kitties. She also dabbled in painting. Madeline and Bill traveled seasonally to Florida to soak in the sun, fish and collect seashells. They also made a pilgrimage to Alaska in their RV. She kept Christmas in her heart and home year round. Even through her trials in the hospital she had a smile for staff and visitors.
In addition to her parents and husband of sixty-two years, Mrs. Wonderley was preceded in death by a grandson, Jacob Hunter Wonderley.
Surviving, are five sons, Rev. Larry Wonderley and his wife Debby of Midvale, Ohio, Danny Wonderley of New Hope, Gary Wonderley and his wife Lesley of Bradenton, Florida, Jeffrey Wonderley and his wife Tamera of Fort Defiance, Kevin Wonderley and his wife Laura of Staunton; nine grandchildren, Laremy and his wife, Stephanie, Lance, Ethan, Christi, Joshua, Michael and his wife, Rebecca, Monica and her husband, Joshua, Erica and her husband, Johnny, and Kristin and her husband, Hunter; nine great-grandchildren, Shelby, Athena, Drake, Heidi, Adrian, Hailey, John 5th, Barrett and Josie; two brothers, Walter Clatterbaugh, Jr. of Covington, and Eddie Clatterbaugh of Staunton; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 5, 2025 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory
A celebration of life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at Mount Horeb by Rev. Larry Wonderley.
Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery in Grottoes conducted by Rev. Dr. John McDonald. 
Active pallbearers will be Joshua Wonderley, Michael Wonderley, Lance Wonderley, Laremy Wonderley, Ethan Wonderley, and Jack Latimer
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
