Dennis Scott Yeago
Dennis “Scott” Yeago, 71, went to be with Jesus in his heavenly home on Saturday, February 8, 2025. Scott was born in King’s Daughters Hospital on December 17, 1953, in Staunton, Virginia. He was a son of the late Katherine “Kitty” Lockridge and Max Houston Lockridge. He was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law Romelda and Freddie Gilbert.
Scott was married to Darlene (Gilbert) Yeago, his cherished wife, on July 6, 1974 at Calvary Baptist Church. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past summer.
Scott is survived by his beloved children, Jeremy Brandon Yeago and his wife Michelle, Ashley Yeago Brown and her husband Eric, and Jordan Yeago Long and her husband Brad; his precious grandchildren Haileigh Yeago, Brendon and Blair Brown, and Knox, Ace, and Jake Long. He is also survived by his shih tzu Bella.
In addition to his wife and children, Scott is survived by his brothers Rick Yeago and Todd Lockridge, and his sister Katrina Klein and brother-in-law Charles. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Pat Hartsook, and numerous nieces and nephews. Scott treasured his family.
Scott was a 1972 Lee High School graduate. He was a devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church in Staunton where he was baptized and served as treasurer of his Sunday School class for many years. Prior to his retirement, he worked at Genicom (GE) for 25 years and at Coors for 18 years. Scott was a hard worker and hardly ever missed a day. He had extraordinary mechanical and carpentry skills. He built his hunting camp in Williamsville in 1988 where he spent many hunting seasons with his lifelong family and friends. He also built furniture and a beautiful deck on their family home. He put together many, many toys for the grandchildren for birthdays and Christmas.
Scott loved his animals and had many beagles through the years. He also fed his “herd” of birds and squirrels in his backyard. Scott loved to have a perfectly manicured yard.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Calvary Baptist Church by Pastor Bobby Campbell.
It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, Tennessee 38105-1942 , Samaritan’s Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, North Carolina 28607 or to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, New York 10306. These charities were very dear to Scott’s heart.
