Wayne Garland Via

Wayne Garland Via, 81, of Waynesboro, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at Augusta Health in Fishersville surrounded by his family. He was born in Rockingham County on April 1, 1943, a son of the late Elzy Jake and Gladys Mae (Marshall) Via.

Wayne proudly served in the United States Marine Corps achieving the rank of Corporal. He attended the United States Institution in 1965, then continued his education at God’s Bible School in Cincinnati, Ohio, and graduated with a bachelor's degree in religious education. Wayne retired after working many years as a machinist. He was a faithful member of Waynesboro Wesleyan Church and loved his church and church family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elizabeth Jane Via; sisters, Louise Brown and Lois Randall Wimer, and brothers, William Via, Herman Via, and Eldridge “Buddy” Via.

Survivors include his children: Lori Brooks (Roger), Lisa Faulhaber (Greg) , Marie Hughes ( John), and Michelle Truslow (Chris); 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sister, Judy McDorman (Bill); numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Wayne was a loving husband, father, and Paw-Paw, to his wife, girls, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was loved by so many and will be missed by his family and friends.

A funeral service with military honors will be conducted at 1pm on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home in Fishersville with Pastor Paul Riddle officiating. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 20, 2025 from 4pm until 6pm at the funeral home.
