Rev. Richard Glass

February 24, 1949 - December 12, 2024

Rev. Richard H. Glass, 75, of Kearneysville, WV passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Winchester Medical Center surrounded by his beloved family.

Rev. Glass was Born in Mount Savage, Maryland on February 24, 1949, a son of the late Denver Raymond and Dorsie Mae Smith Glass.  He was a 1968 graduate of Taneytown High School and a licensed minister of the United Pentecostal Church International for over 49 devoted years.  He faithfully and willingly poured his life into mentoring others as they discovered and developed their ministries.  He had a love for missions and was able to participate on mission trips to Ethiopia and Bangladesh. He traveled the world teaching prayer. He intern-pastored in Job, WV and Hagerstown, MD and was a long-term member of the Apostolic Lighthouse, in Frederick, MD, where he served for over twenty years as the Associate Pastor and Armor Bearer/Prayer Warrior. Rev. Glass pastored two congregations, New Life Tabernacle in Moorefield, WV and New Life Tabernacle in Cumberland, MD.  He continued his ministry assisting his son, Pastor Richard Glass at Christian Life Chapel in Hagerstown, MD. There he taught, preached, and served the people of God with passion and love for the harvest as well as serving on the church board.

He was famously known for and inherited the nickname “Praying Mantis”.  He was a man that didn’t just pray but LOVED to pray and seek the face of His precious Lord and Savior!  Rev. Glass was truly a man of prayer.  He could pray and talk about prayer for hours upon hours every single day and still felt like he didn’t get enough prayer.  He always craved and desired more of God and His presence.  God’s presence and prayer were his passions.  Rev. Glass cherished every opportunity he had to impart prayer and a love for prayer to his children, grandchildren and anyone who craved and desired a fervent prayer life.  Souls were his heartbeat.  He never hesitated to be Spirit-led and soul conscious.  He took every encounter to heart.  He quickly and selflessly showed the love of God to all. As he would often say, “Go in Jesus name, and make Heaven your home!”

Rev. Glass is survived by his loving wife of 47 years,  Betty Lou McBride Glass (affectionally know as his precious Silver Dollar); his beloved children Charmaine Parent (Steven), Richard Glass (Jennifer Antonella), Kara Thomas (George); his cherished Grandchildren Reilly Parent, Alyssa Thomas, Shelby Parent, Ethyn Thomas (Sarah), Elayna Thomas, Jordan Glass, Kailyn Thomas, Ashton Glass, Cortt Glass, Megan Farr (Craig); his siblings Paul Glass (Gay), Charles Glass (Grace), Ollie Glass (Joanne), and Dareen Angell (David); several nieces, nephews, and cousins and numerous friends who will miss him dearly.

Glass will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 16, 2024, at Cornerstone United Pentecostal Church, 189 Parson Court, Winchester, VA 22603 with Pastor Jeff Dillon and Pastor Michael Mangold officiating.  Rev.
