Rachel Hammersley

Rachel Esther Hammersley (nee Revard) passed away Tuesday morning at Winchester Medical Center.  She was born on May 23, 1962, to the late Joseph Merritt Revard and Shirley Cornetta Carter Revard.

Rachel grew up in Clifton and attended Robinson High School, graduating in 1980 and receiving a certificate in Cosmetology.  She proceeded to go to work with her lifelong friend Valerie "Val" Clark as a hairdresser and they worked together most of her life cutting hair for 45 years. 

In 1986 she married Thomas Moody Hammersley and together they had two children, Jon Thomas Hammersley (Laura) and Emily Ann Wigenton (Jeremy), her siblings Joey Revard Jr (Carolyn), Timmy Revard, Danny Revard (Carrie), Becky Early (John), along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

She enjoyed traveling and going shopping for her two grandchildren, Julia Grace and Livia Mae, who both loved their "Mimi". 

A funeral service for Mrs. Hammersley will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at Stover Funeral Home with Pastor Banks Swanson officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5:00 pm until the time of the service.   

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Clifton Cemetery 12829 Yates Ford Road Clifton VA 20124.

Pallbearers will be Jeb Early, Jeremy Wigenton, Josh Hammersley, Mike Nelson Jr., Paul Appel, Seth Appel, Mike Torance, and Jamie Revard.
