Michael Owen Sullivan

Michael Owen Sullivan, 70, of Grottoes, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024.

He was born on September 6, 1953 and was a son of the late James Kenneth and Jo Anna (Hensley) Sullivan.

Mike graduated from Montevideo High School class of 1971, undergraduate from Virginia Tech, and received a Masters of Divinity from Duke University in 1998. He was a Pastor in the Virginia United Methodist Church, and most recently attended the Mt. Vernon Mennonite Church in Port Republic.

Mike was united in marriage on Dec. 23, 1989, to Diane (Jarrels) Sullivan, who survives.

Mike is also survived by two sons, Kenneth Sullivan, and James Sullivan and fiance Savannah Rennix; sisters, Mary Ruth Fields, Sally (Jeff) Smith, Jackie (Greg) Stenson; in-laws, John and Helen Jarrels; sisters-in law, Pam (Jeff) Huffman, Carla (David) Coppage, and Jennifer (Keith) Sheets; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Grottoes.

A memorial service celebrating Mike's life will be held at 3 PM on April 20th, at the funeral home, with Pastors Greg Stenson and Jim Harris officiating.
