Wayne "Sonny" Heatwole
Wayne “Sonny” Heatwole joined the Lord Thursday February 15, 2024 at 11:35pm surrounded by his loving family. He was 78 years young.
He is survived by his beautiful wife of 58 years, Sandra; sons, Kevin and Greg; granddaughters, Olivia and Amber (Russell) and their mother Trudy; great grandson, Price; and his fur-baby Bernie, who will miss his snuggles and morning coffee car rides.
Sonny was a Waynesboro legend. Most would agree, he never let grass grow under his feet. His time was never wasted which led to a life well lived. He kept a motor under him for most of his life- whether it was drag racing “Bad News” at Eastside speedway in his younger years, hunting on a 4-wheeler, fishing in one of his boats, or cruising around town with Sandra in their golden years searching for treasures to add to their collection. He also enjoyed a good card game, bragging about his family, and tending to his home, tomato plants, and garden.
The Heatwole’s thank their friends and family for their support throughout his battle with cancer. Wesley Cash, David Hoy, Richard Marsh, and his circle of friends brought him joy and many laughs until the end. We will forever miss his smile and big baby blue eyes.
The family will hold a celebration of life in the Spring which will be announced at a later date.
Arrangement have been entrusted to Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes of Waynesboro.
